Open access is the practice of making peer-reviewed scientific research and literature freely available online to anybody interested in reading it at no cost and with few limitations on reuse. All papers are published in an agreed-upon manner on the journal website, free of technical, financial, or gender constraints, and put in archive and indexing databases as appropriate to the journal.

Why open access publishing?

Restricted access to scientific research and achievements via a subscription pay wall impedes communication among the scientific community. Furthermore, limiting access might impede the education and distribution of scientific information to future generations that want to pursue a career in science. Increased productivity and scientific advancement can only be accomplished by disseminating information and making permanent repositories available, such as Open Access.

The use of a Creative Commons 4.0 License (CC-BY-SA 4.0) enables user/reader/peer to use/share the content with clear permission in a way that it can be reused and redistributed as long as the article source is appropriately given credited.
